Reginald Mobley discusses the creation of his new album, Because
Following a successful performance at the tung auditorium in liverpool, reginald mobley now returns to france for the next leg of his album release tour
In run up to his performance at the York Festival of Ideas last week, Reginald Mobley spoke with CharlesHutchPress about the creation of his album ‘Because’. Collaborating with a solo jazz pianist on a series of slave songs and African American spirituals, Reginald hopes to push the boundaries of classical music programming, granting power and agency to both this genre and historical community.
“Spirituals are true hymns to resilience, whose beauty and strength of both lyrics and music symbolise hope and faith in humanity…This project’s aim is to do justice to this musical heritage and to honour its past performers.”

Later this week, Reginald Mobley will perform at the Abbaye du Silvacane, making his debut at the Aix-en-Provence Festival for the final concert of his album release tour.
