Théotime Langlois de Swarte releases new album 'Vivaldi, Leclair & Locatelli' with baroque music ensemble Les Ombres

Théotime Langlois de Swarte and Baroque Music ensemble Les Ombres releases NEW CD 'Leclair Vivaldi & Locatelli: Violin Concertos' with harmonia mundi

Following 3 major recordings for harmonia mundi, including The Mad Lover with lutist Thomas Dunford, Proust, le Concert Retrouvé with pianist Tanguy de Williencourt and a selection of French sonatas by Leclair and Sénaillé with harpsichordist William Christie, Théotime Langlois de Swarte has teamed up with ensemble Les Ombres to record his first concerti CD - Vivaldi, Leclair & Locatelli: Violin Concertos.

Having Antonio Vivaldi at the center of the album, the Italian baroque composer has inspired Leclair and taught Locatelli. Vivaldi’s concerto in C had never been recorded, although his own ornamentation and cadenzas, which he wrote for his pupil, Anna Maria, have been preserved. By composing concertos in the style of Vivaldi, Jean-Marie Leclair contributed to bringing the Italian school to France.  Famous throughout Europe, Locatelli is the link between Vivaldi and Leclair, who got into a legendary musical duel during which, it was said, Leclair performed like an angel and Locatelli like a devil! This programme enhances the violin as a virtuoso instrument and allows a young musician such as Théotime to build bridges between two renowned violinists and one of the most famous composers of all time.

Théotime Langlois de Swarte is set to hold an album release concert at The Michel Laclotte Auditorium in the Louvre Museum. Joined by Les Ombres, the concert will take place at 8pm on the 4th February 2022.
