Diana Soh is double shortlisted for the prestigious Fedora Opera prize 2022
two of Diana soh’s works have BEEN SHORTLISTED FOR THE FEDORA OPERA PRIZE
The Fedora organisation is a European platform supporting innovation in opera and ballet.
Diana Soh’s latest work, ‘The Carmen Case’, is a collaboration with director Alexandra Lacroix and conductor Lucie Leguay.
Offering a new perspective on Bizet’s beloved Carmen, ‘The Carmen Case’ is a behind close doors hearing where the prosecutor, the victim, the defendant and the witnesses expose the facts, respond to the charges and contest the allegation of defamation.
Testimonies of a loyal audience, who have acclaimed Bizet's work for almost 150 years, will be heard, just like the score. The hearing is open!
Her one-act chamber opera ‘Façons tragiques de tuer une femme’ has also been shortlisted. This is a collaboration with stage director Séverine Chavrier in which the disparity of treatment between men and women is articulated through the life and loves of the women on stage. Taking inspiration from the Greek tragedies, this modern-day representation showcases the full and timeless spectrum of micro-aggressions and violence against women.
