MIRY Concertzaal, Belgium

This program, entitled ‘Les frères Francoeur’, transports us to 18th century France, to discover the works of the Francoeur brothers - François and Louis Francoeur. François is known as the leading violinist of the court of Louis XV, elevated to the peerage by the same monarch and admitted to the Académie royale de Musique. His brother Louis, on the other hand, was accorded a significantly smaller status in the musical pantheon. Unjustly, according to Théotime Langlois de Swarte and Justin Taylor. With lyrical sonatas for violin and harpsichord by both gentlemen, they restore the balance and cut it with other giants of the French eighteenth century such as Couperin and Rameau.
