Théo Imart participates in L'Académie du Festival Aix-en-Provence
find out more about Théo Imart’s recent experience participating in L'Académie du Festival Aix-en-Provence
Théo Imart was selected for this year’s cohort of singers for L'Académie du Festival Aix-en-Provence.
This is a unique centre for training, experimentation and the professional integration of young artists with the objective of revealing new talent and facilitating new encounters year after year. This prestigious progam invites selected participants to partake in a singing residency that culminates in various performances and masterclasses across the festival.
This year the cohort had masterclasses with Stéphane Degout and Edith Wiens, working on both operatic repertoire and French melody. They also worked with
Korneel Bernolet and Les Talens Lyriques on a performance of Pergolesi’s opera ‘Li Prodigi della Divina Grazia nella Conversione e Morte di San Guglielmo duca d'Aquitania’ held in the Hôtel Maynier d'Oppède.
We asked Théo to share some highlights from his experience…
“Working with Edith Wiens gave us another way to think about our vocal technique, about what sound it is we want to produce and how this relates to the emotions we want to share. It was very helpful and gave us so many more possibilities”
“Having the opportunity to sing in the Hôtel Maynier d'oppède, a truly beautiful place with such a good acoustic.”
He particularly enjoyed working on the Pergolesi which lent itself to in-depth work on recitativo as well the opportunity to learn some beautiful and rarely performed arias.
“There is a real chance to perform in the festival of Aix en Provence, and it's a real pleasure to work with such important People.”
