The BBC Singers perform Diana Soh’s ‘Vak’ for International Women’s Day
This week, the bbc singers perform DIANA SOH’S work titled ‘Vak’ as part of their concert celebrating female contemporary composers
On 19th January, the BBC Singers will perform a programme of works by female contemporary composers in celebration of International Women’s Day. Kicking off the concert will be Diana Soh’s choral work, ‘Vak’. Initially commissioned by SYC Ensemble Singers, ‘Vak’ comprises three short pieces inspired by Mandarin tongue twisters and other aural utterances. In fact, the title of the work is the Sanskrit word for speech, and so this is reflected in the onomatopoeic quality of the text.
