An exciting collaboration with the Flanders symphony orchestra and Kristiina Poska, celebrating the work of cesar franck.
This new album, a first recording with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra for Tanguy de Williencourt, pays tribute to the music of César Franck, whose bicentenary is being celebrated in 2022.
In this program he pays a double tribute to the memory of the composer, since the recording took place in his native country, and with a Belgian orchestra: the pianist could not have dreamed of better partners than the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, with Kristiina Poska at the helm.
These talented musicians with rich backgrounds have come together to perform Franck's late pieces, some of which have been little performed - notably the symphonic poem Les Djinns - which testify to the great originality of César Franck's writing.
De Williencourt writes:
“Above all, I was struck by the fact that, unlike many composers who really burst on the music scene in their early days, Franck grew as a creator and was truly fulfilled late in his life, composing most of his masterpieces in the last decade of his life…These works are the quintessential part of his creative quest, in their formal ambitions, expressive power, harmonic richness and masterly architecture.”
An artist acclaimed by his peers, Tanguy de Williencourt, brilliantly celebrates here the genius of a composer of great stature often overshadowed by his contemporaries.
