Soprano Gwendoline Blondeel sings Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Vergine with Opéra de Massy.

Friday 15th October | 8pm

The piece is described as the summit of sacred music which seals the link between the polyphony of the Renaissance and the splendid virtuoso opulence of the Baroque. Published three years after L'Orfeo, written over ten years, the collection of Vespro della beata Vergine is an anthology of fearlessness with a range of styles and numbers. It is a personal testimony to the genius of Monteverdi which inspired the future of European music history.
