Opera Lafayette has announced its 22/23 season and CLB Management is proud to represent three artists appearing in the forthcoming festival.

Gwendoline Blondeel AND Maxime melnik BOTH MAKE THEIR AMERICAN debutS, whilst PIANIST AND HARPSICHORDIST, JUSTIN TAYLOR, MAKES HIS CONDUCTING DEBUT.

This season, Opera Lafayette celebrates the Era of Madame de Pompadour in the second of three festivals dedicated to different periods of 18th-century French music and opera. The company’s artistic director, Ryan Brown, presents three programmes in which he highlights the talents of young artistic associates and musical directors with flourishing careers in early music.

In the Salons of Versailles

Titled, In the Salons of Versailles, the first chamber programme of the season is dedicated to the musical salons in the era of Madame de Pompadour. Justin Taylor will perform on the harpsichord alongside Jacob Ashworth (violinist), Emmanuelle de Negri (soprano), June Huang (violin), Isaiah Chapman (viola), and Seraphim Smigelskiy (cello).

Pergolesi!

Dedicated to the music of Pergolesi, whose popularity inspired the Guerre des Bouffons, an intellectual and artistic battle between partisans of Italian and French music, this programme features a semi-staged performance of Pergolesi’s comedy, La Servante maîtresse, and a concert rendition of his Stabat Mater, conducted by Patrick Dupré Quigley. Gwendoline Blondeel sings alongside Mezzo Soprano Sarah Mesko , Soprano Hannah De Priest, Bass-Baritone Jonathan Woody, and Tenor Patrick Kilbride.

Actes de ballet: Rameau’s Io and De la Garde’s Léandre et Héro

The final programme of the season comprises two fully staged one-act ballets: the never-before performed Io, by Rameau, an unfinished comedy recently completed with music from Platée by doctor of musicology Sylvie Bouissou, and the modern premiere of Pierre de la Garde’s Léandre et Héro.  Conducted by Justin Taylor, the performances feature Maxime Melnik and Emmanuella de Negri in the title roles.
