Nicholas Scott performs in Lully's Armide at the Drottningholm Theatre
This summer, Nicholas Scott will be singing as Renaud in Lully's Armide at the Drottningholm Theatre for 8 performances from 3 August to 17 August.
Armide marks Lully's last collaboration with poet Philippe Quinault, featuring a libretto that blends dramatic tension, supernatural themes, and romantic anguish. The opera achieved instant success and was frequently staged in the late 17th century. It includes numerous dance scenes where supernatural entities mirror the emotional turmoil of the main characters, who grapple with conflicting emotions of joy and terror, as well as the boundaries between reality and fantasy.
