Tanguy de Williencourt will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations live from Collège des Bernardins on June 12th at 10am.

Starting from a particularly uncluttered initial basic theme comprising only 32 notes, Johann Sebastian Bach composed one of the most famous works in the keyboard repertoire and one of the most monumental variations in the history of music. . From this quasi-minimalist material, he builds a cathedral of contrapuntal complexity, formal requirement and technical daring. This Aria with some variations for two-keyboard harpsichord, designed for the recreation of the mind, is a work of genius: its different parts are related but not alike and each have their musical independence while contributing to the construction of one of the most powerful architecture.
