LE CONSORT'S NEW CD RELEASE 'SPECCHIO VENEZIANO' IN CELEBRATION OF ANTONIO VIVALDI AND GIOVANNI BATTISTA REALI IS OUT NOW ON THE ALpha CLASSICS LABEL

Specchio Veneziano or the Venetian mirror is a newly released album by Le Consort. The programme compares and contrasts two composers from the city of the Doges. On the one hand, the celebrated Vivaldi, on the other a virtually unknown, Giovanni Battista Reali, who was born there in 1681, three years after Vivaldi, and died in 1751, ten years after his illustrious colleague. A violinist himself, he composed trio sonatas, including a spectacular Folia, which Théotime Langlois de Swarte, Sophie de Bardonnèche, Hanna Salzenstein, and Justin Taylor juxtapose with Vivaldi’s Folia, alongside other highly virtuosic pieces. Many of them are complete rediscoveries since half of this programme has never been recorded before.

Joined by cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière, the album has been listed as one of the top 10 classical albums for November 2021 by Apple Music. After a successful album - Royal Handel, Le Consort is carrying on their partnership with Alpha Classics Label for the new album.

'… Illuminated here by the audacious, brilliant and sensual interpretation of Le Consort (…) We admire everywhere the involvement of Le Consort who naturally finds moments of meditation, theater, dance, jubilant virtuosity, and who knows how to highlight the passages where the awareness of the present moment takes the top… What a miraculous texture in the sonata for two violins without bass RV 68! and that of Folia where everything is possible.’
