Lauren Lodge-Campbell, Justin Taylor, Théotime Langlois de Swarte and nicholas scott perform at the Festival “Dans les Jardins de William Christie”
The next edition of the Festival “Dans les Jardins de William Christie” will feature four of our artists: Justin Taylor, Lauren Lodge-Campbell, Nicholas Scott and Théotime Langlois de Swarte.
Launched in 2012, the festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie grew out of a common desire on the part of the Conseil général de la Vendée and of Mr. Christie himself to create an event that would unite music and gardens, bringing out all the splendour of his creation at Thiré and making it known to a wider public. For each edition, this annual event welcomes around 9000 spectators who can attend over 100 performances.
The festivals main focus is to bring Baroque music to a wider public, with family and other activities programmed. These allow participants to become more familiar with the world of the Baroque in the enchanting setting of William Christie’s gardens.

Justin Taylor | Harpsicord Sypmphony | August 27 | Thiré Church
For this last candlelight concert of the 2021 Festival, you can watch a harpsichord duo bringing together William Christie, founder of Les Arts Florissants, and the young French harpsichordist of American origin Justin Taylor. The program will feature emblematic pieces from the Baroque repertoire, from England to France - by Tomkins, Farnaby, Purcell, Handel, Leroux and of course Couperin, William Christie's favourite composer who helped him rediscover his music.
A "symphony" placed under the sign of transmission, of musical friendship... and of this flagship instrument of Baroque music: the harpsichord!

Lauren Lodge-Campbell & Nicholas Scott | The Indian Queen | August 27th & 28th | Reflecting Pool
After the success of L'Orfeo in 2018, Paul Agnew presents a new operatic production on the Water Mirror stage!
The Indian Queen, although left unfinished, unfolds all the creative fantasy of the English composer Henry Purcell. A connoisseur of this repertoire, Paul Agnew offers a recreation of this semi-opera between music and theatre, for two exceptional performances at the close of the Festival. The audience will be able to meet five former laureates of the Jardin des Voix - the academy for young singers of Les Arts Florissants, which celebrates its 10th edition this year - alongside the actress Raphaëlle Saudinos and the choir and orchestra of Les Arts Florissants.

Théotime Langlois de Swarte | Generations | August 4th | Les Musicales de Normandie
At the crossroads of the Italian and French schools, Leclair and Senaillé were in a way the Paganinis of the French 18th century. Virtuoso as well as poetic, always formidably rhythmic and danceable, their sonatas found two ardent defenders under the fingers of Théotime Langlois de Swarte and William Christie. Across the generations, the great master of Baroque music and the young violin prodigy combine their talents to help us rediscover these still unjustly unknown pages.
